The regional development is defined by The Contracting Society, as a holistic process where different regional actors could participate in the definition, decision and implementation of the most convenient development for the current generations without affecting the economical investment capacity nor the social and the environmental stocks of the future generations. The Contracting Society promotes partnerships and alliances between different governments to increase efficiency and increment the impact of investments, independently that they could be implemented in a specific region. The Contracting Society work is also to help governments to think and give them inputs for a better decision-making and a clearer definition of regional policies. But, the work of The Contracting Society is not only related at the policy level. We also design and implement the “landing” process. Which means translating policies into implementable programs.

Many times governments hire “experts” that can not translate a regional development approach into an effective development program. Generally, these people take around six months to a year to understand the regional dynamics and strategies and tools of development.
